Property Description
Lots of people asks us about why we picked the name Aboriginal for our hostel, especially as we are located in Budapest, over fifteen-thousand kilometers away from the nearest Aboriginal.
The Aboriginal hostel houses us, backpackers like a tribe of nomads during our walkabout (= aboriginal journey, the original, nomad way of backpacking ;) .
A small community which offers a social atmosphere, a family of travelers, a place where you don't only come to sleep but to socialize with others and where you can have a memorable experience while you are here.
Although we are not a party hostel and we'd prefer if you wouldn't only watch TV and drinking beer all day as Budapest offers much more than that, we will still make you busy on finding not only the major sights but the hidden gems as well and show you around the best deals on meals and drinks even if you are on a tight budget.
Our hearty breakfast will make sure that you won't leave with grumbling stomach in the mornings and it won't tear your budget apart as it's absolutely included. We also thought about your other needs like FREE Internet to connect with your friends and family, FREE use of towels so you don't have to damp your own, FREE laundry for those who stay more than 3 nights and some other nice touches which make your stay more comfortable, like beds already made for you...
Our location is in a hip student district nestled between the downtown and the train station, so you can drop off your bags earlier, you won't get ripped off by the special, 'tourist prices' of downtown but you can enjoy better deals and still staying inside the city center. We are just few minutes away from the National Museum and about 15 minutes walk from the river side.
Besides the sights and recommendation, we also organize daily activities which whether involves food, drinks, games or some ridiculous reason for a get together.
Note: Our policy is what we offer you get, we don't make our prices ridiculously cheap and threat you with hidden charges but provide a quality service with all inclusive rates. We promise that you will get everything we offer.
We offer the following amenities:

DIRECTIONS
When you are coming by train
We have three main train stations called Keleti, Nyugati and Déli.
Due to the Metro constructions there are some different descriptions in our flyers. We are sorry for the inconvenience and please follow the right directions below:
From Keleti trainstation we are about 15-20 minutes walk if you follow the directions properly.
Get off your train and turn towards the end of the platforms.
Leave at the main exit and walk towards the overpass, on the right side of the construction site: You can find a McDonalds, and a Pizza Hut as checkpoints on the way.
Keep walking through under the overpass, where you can find Grand Hotel Hungária. Keep walking on Rákóczi Street, then find a crossing to get to the other side of the road.
Now you should be on the left side of Rákóczi Street. Walk towards the hills until the next main street, where the tramlines are, and a square called „Blaha Lujza tér'. Turn to the left (to the József krt.) and go straight ahead and you'll see a McDonalds. Across the street on the crosswalk, continue your way along with the tramlines. Keep walking two more blocks and turn to the right in the street called „Kölcsey'. As a checkpoint you will find a pub at this corner. Pass through Kölcsey Street, up to Gutenberg square, and straight to the street ahead. There is Bródy Sándor Street, the hostel is located at #46, which is the first gate on the right from the square. Our entry phone number is #23, we welcome you on the first floor.
From Nyugati we are about 10 minutes by tram:
At the exit of the train station you'll find a tram stop, choose that direction which is opposite to the overpass. On the sign you can see „Móricz Zsigmond körtér felé'. Available trams are #4 or #6. You can use both to get to our hostel. Take the first tram from this stop, and make sure you punch your ticket. Get off at the 5th stop, which is called „Rákóczi tér'. Across the crosswalk you will see the Kölcsey Street. Walk along, as far as Gutenberg Square and straight to the street ahead. There is Bródy Sándor Street, the hostel is located at #46, which is the first gate on the right from the square. Our entryphone number is #23, we welcome you on the first floor.
From Déli trainstation we are about 10 minutes by metro & a little walk:
At the train station you'll find the metro entrance one level below. Buy a single ride ticket from the cashier and validate it before the escalator and take a metro. This is the terminal, so there is only one direction. Get off at Astoria (5 stops), then turn to the left when you reach the underground, then upstairs straight ahead exit. Now you should be on Múzeum krt., opposite of you there is a Burger King. Keep walking forward until the first corner to the left, where there is the green fence of the National Museum. Now you should be on Bródy Street, search for #46, which is the last gate on the left before the square. Our entry phone number is #23, we welcome you on the first floor.
Please keep in mind that you have to use a ticket or pass to use public transportation. Tickets are available at yellow ticket-machines, newspaper-stores and metro offices. One single ticket costs 320HUF(1.25EUR). Those who don't use tickets can be fined by 6000HUF(22EUR).
2. When you are coming by bus
From the International Coach Terminal 'Népliget' you can get into our hostel within 20 minutes by metro and an easy walk.
From the bus terminal you can get to the metro through the underpass. Choose the one in direction to 'Újpest-Központ'. Get off at 'Kálvin tér' which is the 4th stop, then turn left right after the escalator. Walk straight ahead, then choose the left exit to upstairs (Múzeum krt.). Keep walking ahead, then turn to the right after the National Museum's garden (2nd corner to right).
Now you should be on Bródy street, search for #46, which is the very last gate on the left, just before the square. Our entryphone number is #23, we welcome you on the first floor.
3. If you would come by plane
Please contact the hostel if you need to be collected from the airport.
If you want to make your own way to get to the hostel, we would recommend you three other options from the airport, which is taxi, the airport-minibus service or public transportation.
Present days the cost of airport-minibus is 2490HUF(10EUR)/person for one way, which is worth if you have lots of luggages and you travel alone. Otherwise an official taxi can be cheaper, as they have fixed fares from the airport, and the taxi goes to one address, while the minibus delivers several passengers. If I convinced you about the comforts of use a taxi, please read the advices below about taxies.
By public transportation we are about an hour using the airport-bus and metro from the airport.
Please keep in mind that you have to use a ticket or pass to use the public transportation. Tickets are available at yellow ticket-machines, newspaper-stores and metro offices. One single ticket costs 320HUF(1.25EUR). Those who don't use tickets can be fined by 6000HUF(22EUR).
Between the terminal 2 and 2A, there is a bus stop for the Airport-Bus, which is a service of the Budapest Transport Company known as BKV.
It is a public vehicle, so you should punch a ticket for using this transportation.
Tickets are available at newspaper-stores, metro stations, ticket-machines from the street and from the bus-driver in cases.
If you buy a ticket from the driver, please check if it wasn't validated before.
After getting on the bus please ensure you've punched your ticket, so you won't be fined. Ride on the bus until it lasts, then you'll be on 'Kőbánya-Kispest'.
Validate a new ticket again, then take a metro until 'Kálvin tér' (8th stop), then turn left right after the escalator. Walk straight ahead, then choose the left exit to upstairs (Múzeum krt.). Keep walking ahead, then turn to the right after the National Museum's garden (2nd corner to right).
Now you should be on Bródy street, search for #46, which is the last gate on the left, just before the square. Our entryphone number is #23, we welcome you on the first floor.
4. Whenever you want to take a taxi
Usually the taxies are not expensive, if I talk about the large companies. But you should definitely avoid private cabs, they are 'official pickpockets', they can ask horrible amounts for few kilometers. Usually it is cheaper if you call one by phone. Every taxi should have a fare list on the rear window.
Here you can see a price list of the largest companies:

Phone number: (+361)2-000-000
Rates/km by street: 240 HUF
by call: 219 HUF
